Year 9 pupil Manahil Masood was announced as the overall winner of the Show Racism the Red Card School Competition. Her emotive piece of artwork was picked as the best entry across eight different categories, which included thousands of pieces of art, creative writing and multi-media from primary and secondary schools across the country.

The School celebrated the achievements of all pupils who have earned Gold, Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards this year in a special joint ceremony. As well as hearing about pupils' experiences of the different sections required to complete the Awards, there was an address from the event's guest speaker, Old Boy Charlie Boscoe. Charlie shared five of his adventures and the lessons learned from them as well as advising pupils on how to live an adventurous life.

Nine Girls' Division pupils have been invited to join the Regional Academy Lacrosse Programme following trials. Five girls in Year 8 and three in Year 9 were successful in their trials.

Girls' Divisoon pupils from all year groups enjoyed a fascinating talk on medical imaging from Dr Lewis-Palmar. As Head of Screening Quality Assurance (North), she was able to explain why we have screening programmes, how doctors decide what to screen for and how people are screened, and how screening is different from other forms of healthcare.

A student in Year 13 and two Old Boys have been named as members of the Great Britain Under 19 Men's team for the upcoming qualifiers of the LEN European U19 Men’s Water Polo Tournament. Sixth Form student Harrison Barker-Smith joins former pupils Bill Moores and Ben Ray, who both left the School last summer after their A Levels.

The Junior Girls recently took part in the Bolton Schools' Cross Country Championships, where both the Year 3/4 team and the Year 5/6 team performed well and finished in first place! There was "double" good news for the Years 5/6 team who also won the Bolton Schools' Cross Country League.

Girls in Years 5 and 6 also did well in the Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) Biathlon competition held at Rossall School. Two girls on the team achieved individual podium positions, with Pip Nuttall taking first place, and the girls as a whole did well enough to achieve first place for Bolton School in the team competition.

Two Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) who teach at Bolton School will soon be jetting off to Chicago for the Apple Distinguished Schools (ADS) Global Innovation Summit. Mr Ford, Boys' Division Deputy Headteacher, and Mrs Whittaker, Junior School Teacher, are among a select group of UK teachers invited to the event. They will present a workshop on how they use coding in the Junior and Senior Schools during their time at the summit.
