Talented young sportsmen at Bolton School Boys' Division were joined by pupils from nearby Gaskell Primary School for a very special lunchtime with two footballing legends. They heard from Ryan Giggs, most famous for his time at Manchester United, and Joe Thompson, former Rochdale, Tranmere, Bury and Carlisle player, who has twice fought off cancer.


Bolton School played host to the first stop on author Lisa Williams' 'Paper Avalanche' book tour. The School welcomed visitors from four local schools and two whole year groups from the Girls' Division to hear Lisa talk about how she became a writer and to find out more about her books before having the opportunity to have their own copies signed.


A former teacher, Head of Sport and Director of Partnerships at Bolton School has been named the next British Water Polo League President. Mr Trevor Pledger is well known both as a member of staff and for his lifelong involvement with water polo as a player, coach and administrator.

Apprenticeships are a growing trend at Bolton School. In honour of National Apprenticeship Week, the School caught up with seven apprentices currently working towards qualifications at Bolton School: three in the ICT department, three at the Nursery and one at BSS Leisure.


The Girls' Division Under 13 Lacrosse Team enjoyed success this week, becoming Northern Schools' champions for the second year in a row!

According to recently released government data, Sixth Form students at the Girls' and Boys' Divisions are performing exceptionally well not only in terms of examination results, but also when it comes to progress made from GCSE to the end of A Level. Both heads are delighted with the Department for Education (DfE) performance data that has been released.


Patterdale Hall Manager Tim Taylor and his colleague Sean Duffy spent four days travelling more than 100 miles through bleak and blustery conditions to raise money for St Gemma's Hospice in honour of their friend Dave. They have raised over £3,400 on their JustGiving page at the time of writing.


The next Enrichment Evening lecture is scheduled to take place on Monday evening: television presented Miranda Krestovnikoff will talk about 'The Sea Around Me' and describe the highlights from her twenty-year career filming wildlife off the coast of the UK. The talk will take place at 7pm on Monday 10 February 2020.
