6 March 2020

World Book Day was celebrated across the whole of Bolton School this week. The Infants at Beech House were delighted to meet Rob Biddulph, the Official World Book Day 2020 Illustrator, who helped them to draw their own aliens in a special assembly. From dressing up in the Nursery to a 'Shoebox Story' competition for Junior Boys to quizzes and themed challenges in the Senior School libraries, the whole of the Bolton School Foundation was involved.

A gallery of photos from World Book Day can be viewed here.

Earlier in the week, children at the Nursery had fun outdoors for World Wildlife Day! They took part in listening walks, made nests and bird feeders, and enjoyed a muddy bug hunt.

Pupils at the Junior Boys' and Junior Girls' Schools benefitted from a 'Speak Out, Stay Safe' talk delivered by NSPCC volunteers. They learned about different kinds of bullying and abuse, thought about what is and is not okay, and received the important message that everyone has the right to speak out and stay safe.

Teaching staff in the Girls' Division have been helping primary school pupils in Year 6 to achieve more advanced mathematics learning as part of an ongoing partnership project with Lostock Primary School. The lessons aim to help the children to get the best grades possible in their National Curriculum Assessments in the summer.

Tickets are now available for The Jazz Age Jeopardy: an immersive 1920s theatre production starring pupils from both Divisions in Years 7 to 9! Join us in the Arts Centre Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March 2020 (7.00pm) for what is sure to be a fantastic performance.

Coming up at the end of the month is our next Arts and Sciences Enrichment Evening: Dr Phylomena Badsey will give a talk about Women in the First World War on Tuesday 24 March 2020. You can subscribe to our mailing list to receive updates and reminders of forthcoming events.
